Glimpses ESSILOR – 3rd most innovative French company in Forbes magazine’s list of World Top 100 For four consecutive years, Essilor has been listed in Forbes magazine's world's most innovative companies. Essilor is France's third most innovative company, just behind Hermès (13th) and Iliad (29th). This continuing acknowledgement is recognition of the Group's strategy – a Group that invests more than €150million per year in research and innovation. Products launched less than four years ago account for 40% of Essilor's sales and more than 100 patents in 2013. On a global level, the Group ranks 49th on Forbes’ ranking – a list that also includes companies such as Unilever, Amazon, and Netflix. To support this strategy, Essilor continues to invest throughout the world. In 2014, for example, the Group added to its existing centres for innovation and technologies (Ci&T) in Dallas and Singapore, opening a third in Créteil. The Créteil Ci&T is the largest private ophthalmic optics campus in the world. Every day, the Group's 500 researchers throughout the world develop innovative solutions designed to help Essilor fulfil its mission of improving lives by improving sight. Today, 4.3 billion people throughout the world need vision correction, and that poor vision leads to a loss in productivity calculated to be worth as much as $275 billion per year.
