Q What made you decide to open an independent optometry clinic? A. We saw the benefits of an independent optometric practice. Having the decision-making power of running the office how we want it run in order to provide optimal patient care was appealing. We are able to keep up with the rapidly changing industry and initiate change quickly in order to better care for our patients without having to go through a lot of steps. Having the ability to make your own sched- ule and balance work and family was also extremely important. Q How has OSI Group’s Optosys practice manage- ment software benefited your business? A. It has helped us streamline our procedures and made us more efficient from check-in to check-out. It has measurement tools where you can see where your business is doing well and where it needs improve- ment. It is very methodical and the steps for most tasks are simple to follow. The customer support is the best there is, hands down! They are there to help and will walk you through it step-by-step if there are any questions or confusion. Q What was your experi- ence like with the Optosys in-clinic training? Q How do you keep up with the latest trends in eye- wear and eyecare? A. The in-clinic training was very helpful and simple to follow. They were very mindful of questions and the pace with which staff could follow. A. We attend trade shows, continu- ing education and use the online platform to keep up with the latest trends. We routinely read news- letters and meet with supplier representatives. We work closely with OSI Group for tips and trends as well. They often host training events, which allow for networking opportunities and provide helpful information about current trends. Q What steps do you take to limit your carbon footprint and enhance the customer service experience? A. We reuse and recycle! We go paperless whenever possible and use Optosys as our EMR system with paperless eye exams. We email prescriptions and invoices to patients rather than printing them out. We also donate old glasses to third world countries to help as many people in need as we can. Q Do you have any new projects in the works? A. We are constantly coming up with new ideas and new ways to im- prove the business. It is always in the works as we are trying to improve the patient experience and care on an ongoing basis. We truly believe that if you are standing still you may as well be going backwards! OP Optical Prism | October 2019 23
