1. Tell us about piece Ringo Starr is wearing.
DANISH DESIGN
Ringo Starr is wearing the John Varvatos V793
sun style in Gunmetal in the new John Varvatos
Fall 2014 campaign images. They’re Ringo
Starr’s personal frames – that include his optical
prescription – which he wears regularly.
The V793 style is from the John Varvatos
Artisan Collection. The lightweight rimlessframe features a three piece mounted design,
in addition to a filigree pattern detailing
on the temple and bridge – creating a subtle,
effortless style. The style is available in Brown,
Gunmetal, and Gold mirrored lenses – for
those searching for a little more rock and roll.
2. What do you think made Ringo Starr
the right choice for John Varvatos’ fall
2014 campaign?
The John Varvatos brand is rooted in, and
inspired by rock ‘n’ roll. The creative spirit,
electricity and edginess intrinsic in the personal
style of rock ‘n’ roll icons such as Ringo Starr
inspire John and influence the evolution of
his eclectic sensibility. Ringo was also a fan
and customer of the John Varvatos brand, so
the partnership was a natural fit.
3. Where did the design inspiration come
from for this collection?
The John Varvatos Artisan Collection is one
of four eyewear collections for the brand which
include, the Bowery Collection, the Classic
Collection, and the newly launched Soho
Collection. The Soho Collection is inspired by
John Varvatos’ first store opening in New York
City’s Soho neighborhood, and features eight new
styles, four optical, three sun (with polarized
lenses, a first for the brand!) and one readerstyle – each offered in three rich colours. The
Soho Collection has an elevated level of timeless,
polished and tailored design.

4. Who have been some of your favourite
music artists to work with in the past?
All of the musicians John has worked with for
his advertising campaigns have been great at
supporting the brand and our various eyewear
collections, so it’s hard to choose favorites. However, meeting and working with Ringo Starr was
definitely a dream come true as a Beatles fan!
