Round of
Applause
By Denis Langlois
Many eyewear
companies and trend-watchers are
saying the same thing: round frames are
among the hottest styles of the season. Popularized
in the 1960s – think John Lennon and Elton John
or even Gregory Peck in To Kill a Mockingbird – round
glasses are back in a big way on runways, A-list celebrities
and at music events. Pop star Katy Perry wore a pair of
rose-coloured round glasses during a performance of her hit
Chained to the Rhythm at the 2017 Grammys; cementing the specs
as a must-have item.Optician Rachel Hill, an eyewear fash-
ionista and owner of Personal Optical in St. Catharines,
says round glasses can work for just about anyone. “Round
frames come in different scales. Meaning some are egg-
shaped and some are definitely rounder. You just need
to find the right diametre. Smaller faces definitely
suit round but you don't want to look like a bug. It
is about comfort and attitude with your own
style. Be bold!” she says. And we couldn’t
agree more. Here is a small sample
of stylish round specs.
