Twentse Welle will serve as a well-inform ed tour
e a ste r n p a r t o f th e Ne th erlands. It presents the
landscapes and local custom s. With objects, stories,
i n te r a cti o n b e twe e n n a tu re and culture in this specific,
co mb i n e d co l l e cti o n s o f a natural history m useum ,
a mu se u m o n r e g i o n a l culture and a m useum
sp e ci a l i se d i n th e te xti l e industry that dom inated this
a r e a fr o m th e l a te 1 9 th century onwards.
A l th o u g h we d e ve l o p e d an elaborate design concept
to ma ke vi si to r s a wa r e o f the constant interaction
b e twe e n n a tu r e a n d th e m an-m ade environm ent, the
wh o l e e xh i b i ti o n co u l d a l so be seen as an introduction
to th e r e a l wo r l d i n wh i ch the m useum is located.
Its p u r p o se i s to l i n k th e objects and stories of the
mu se u m to th e o u tsi d e w orld.
Vi si to r s l e a r n to u n d e r stand and appreciate elem ents
o f th e l o ca l cu l tu r e a n d /or nature that they later visit
i n th e n e a r b y su r r o u n d i n gs. In practice M useum
guide to nearby excavations, buildings, research labs,
gam es, m odels, m ovies and sounds we have created
a portal to the region.
