OperaQ is delighted to collaborate with Musica Viva to
bring you the renowned English vocal ensemble I Fagiolini
(pronounced Ee far-joe-LEE-nee - ‘the little beans’) for
their debut national tour. The ensemble, directed by Robert
Hollingworth, will perform a characteristic mix of old and
new, tossing early madrigals in with spectacular new works
to create a delicious musical salad! Lovers of great singing
and choral music will enjoy making the acquaintance of
this superb group performing repertoire from Victoria and
Monteverdi through to Poulenc and a world premiere by
Andrew Schultz especially commissioned for I Fagiolini.

Join OperaQ favourites soprano Emily Burke
and mezzo Hayley Sugars as they take you
through some of opera’s favourite moments in
a morning full of popular operas, backstage
stories and charming melodies.
Queensland’s opera audiences know Emily and
Hayley as vivacious and accomplished opera
singers with gorgeous voices and fabulous careers
on stages across Australia and Europe. What you
don’t perhaps know is that the duo are also good
friends who trained together at OperaQ. Beneath
the glamour and discipline of their opera lives,
Hayley and Emily share a wicked sense of humour!
Emily and Hayley will share with you some of
their favourite arias and music theatre numbers,
including some of opera’s most luscious duets,
such as the flower duets from Madam Butterfly
and Lakmé. Joining them on stage will be some
surprise friends from the OperaQ family.

perspective on opera, a chance to see a side of
