This is the theme of our current edition as OpenRoad embarks on a new brand message that acknowledges value - and what we value - at every turn in our lives. Turn. I can’t help but think of that incredible hit, Turn! Turn! Turn! by Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, the Byrds. The lyrics come courtesy of Pete Seeger and mostly from the Bible’s Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Backed by the unique sounds of a twelve-string Rickenbacker guitar plus folk rock harmonies, the smash hit stormed the charts to #1 on Billboard in late 1965, blowing past the Supremes, the Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley and The Beatles along the way. I think the most enduring quality of the song is its inspired call for peace and tolerance. These are the values that Canadians hold true, and that the world needs more than ever at these often turbulent times. Fifty years later, the song is as relevant today as it was in 1965. To everything - turn, turn, turn There is a season - turn, turn, turn And a time to every purpose under heaven A time to build up, a time to break down A time to dance, a time to mourn A time to cast away stones A time to gather stones together A time of love, a time of hate A time of war, a time of peace A time you may embrace A time to refrain from embracing A time to gain, a time to lose A time to rend, a time to sew A time for love, a time for hate A time for peace, I swear it’s not too late We should all listen to Turn! Turn! Turn! and its message more often. In this edition of OpenRoad Driver, Chan Hon Goh graces us with her style at an inspired photo shoot inside our Rolls-Royce Vancouver showroom.
