Seigo Nakamura is both
the owner of the Tora
Corporation in Japan and
the visionary behind Aburi
Restaurants Canada. Building
on his family’s restaurant
business of nearly sixty years,
Nakamura expanded into
North America, opening
Miku Waterfront a decade
ago. 2018 marks the tenth
anniversary for Miku in
Vancouver.
Nakamura carried an ambitious vision
to introduce Aburi flame-seared sushi to
Vancouver palates. It has been a resounding
success. In addition to Miku, the Aburi
group now operates two other restaurants
in Vancouver - Minami and Gyoza Bar
- and has expanded into eastern Canada
with Miku Toronto. Both Miku locations
have been voted among the 100 Best
Restaurants in Canada by OpenTable
diners, a sort of people’s choice award.
After our recent talk, it seems Seigo-san is
just getting started.
