Volume 14 Issue 1 » 63 2017 Infiniti QX30 » If you’re looking for a crossover with distinctive styling, all-wheel- drive, and a well-appointed attractive cabin, Infiniti thinks that it has the answer for you. With its sculpted contours, the QX30 will be unmistakable from anything else on the road. Its bold creases, referred to as “turbulent character lines” survived almost unaltered from the concept version due to such positive feedback. Derived from a partnership with Mercedes-Benz, the QX30 shares a platform with the GLA-class and uses Mercedes structural and powertrain bits. The Sport models are front-wheel-drive, and there is available all-wheel-drive on the non-Sport trim line. All QX30s are powered by a 208 hp turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with manual shift mode. The transmission’s Sport mode perks things up considerably and even delivers rev-matched downshifts. Size-wise, the QX30 is 174.2 inches long and rides on a 106.3 inch wheelbase, making it about 6.7 inches longer than a Volkswagen Golf. Like other current Infiniti offerings, the QX30 includes an extensive array of driver aids and safety features, including automatic park assist, an around-view monitor, moving-object detection, forward- collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.
