Volume 12 Issue 1 » 41 Infiniti InTouchTM Utilizing the unique dual-screen setup of the Infiniti Q50 sports sedan, InTouchTM mimics a smartphone interface inside the car. Scroll through the menus with your finger, and recognizable icons such as Facebook and Google appear. Just as you would on a mobile device, keeping an eye on your newsfeed, staying updated with your friend’s status updates and using Google Places to find shops, restaurants and other points of interest are all possible without having to take your eyes too far off the road. Users first need to register for the service at canada.infiniticonnection.com and pair their iPhone- or Android-equipped cellphone with the car. InTouchTM also links up to the Infiniti Connection app, which provides additional safety and security functions like automatic collision notification (communicates with a response centre transmitting details of the vehicle and location), stolen vehicle notification (like Find My iPhone for your Infiniti) and scheduled maintenance notification (informs you of an upcoming service). Owners are treated to a complimentary one-year service, and Infiniti Connection is compatible with the Q50, Q70, QX60 and QX80. In Canada, InTouchTM is currently available only on the Q50. As technology continues to evolve at the speed of light, infotainment systems are changing equally as quickly. The one constant seems to be that you will never have to be bored while travelling on the open road ever again.
