ONSIDE / COMPANY PROFILE On the road with RS Motorhomes Seneca’s investment into RS Motorhomes has given the Yorkshire-based business a whole new lease of life R S Motorhomes are the Bentley and Rolls Royce of motorhomes. Large, elegant, well appointed and a definite touch of class about them. Based on a chassis from Mercedes, Fiat or Iveco, they are particularly popular amongst motor sport enthusiasts, as the rear compartment can accommodate bikes in a separate area from the sleeping and living areas. From the top-end Envoy, through the Evolution, Endeavour, Elysian and Equinox models, all told, the retail price is between £70,000 and £250,000, so customer care is paramount. And the purchase is one of the most emotionally significant a purchaser may ever make – often a purchase signals the start of a long and happy retirement. So when a new motorhome rolls out of the factory in South Yorkshire, it’s vital to get the detail right. The business has done well since it was formed 25 years ago, by maintaining a good market position even with the recession squeezing the market for large purchases. But, like many businesses, the company fell victim to the changing policies and attitudes of banks in the brave new world following the financial crisis of 2008. It was a stressful and testing time for RS Motorhomes owner Mick Rowe, Seneca Investments has funds to invest in businesses whose fundamentals are sound but which have encountered a degree of financial distress.
