CONFERENCE SPEAKERS Mike Robertson Claire Spedding Ton Van Everdink Global Head of Power Generation, Liberty Specialty Markets Commercial Operations Manager, National Grid Senior Claims Manager, Munich Re [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] Mike is currently Global Head of Power Generation underwriting within Liberty Specialty Markets and has worked in the London insurance market for over 35 years. Mike started his career as a Construction underwriter for American International Underwriters before graduating to lead CIGNA’s European Technical Lines operations, focussing on Construction and Machinery Breakdown business. Mike later joined the Navigator’s Group as branch manager before establishing the Robertson Consortium at Lloyd’s specialising in Project Cargo, Construction, Oil and Gas and Power Generation insurance. Mike has more recently moved to assume responsibility for Liberty Specialty Markets regional Heavy Industries product line in addition to his Power Generation responsibilities and has worked for the Company for the past 14 years. Mike is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Engineering Insurers (IMIA). Claire is responsible for within year operational strategy development, delivery and review, forecasting demand and embedded generation, prompt trading in the electricity market and financial performance of the System Operator's key revenue stream (+/-£30m per annum). Since joining National Grid in 2002, Claire has worked in a variety of roles, primarily within the commercial and regulatory areas of the business, with both a GB and European focus. Key achievements within her career have been: development and delivery of reforms of the Gas Transmission Commercial regime, successful development and delivery of operational preparedness for the 2012 Olympics for Gas Transmission and negotiating key value adding incentive schemes within that price control. Most recently she has been responsible for GB electricity security of supply. Over 20 years’ experience in the (re)insurance industry. Started as a loss prevention representative with Industrial Risk Insurers in Cleveland (OH) doing surveys of petrochemical, automobile, steel and power plants. Continued doing the same job out of Frankfurt (Germany) visiting plants in Europe and the Middle East. He continued working as a risk management consultant with insurance broker Sedgwick in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Boston (MA, USA) for clients in the mining, power generation and oil industry in Europe and the USA. Became a facultative energy underwriter specializing in the oil, gas, mining and power industry at Munich American Risk Partners. Headed the Nairobi office as client manager for  East Africa and centre of competence for engineering in sub-Saharan Africa. Since June 2010 senior claims manager with Corporate Insurance Partner in Munich mainly dealing with refinery, petro-chemical, mining and power claims. 13
