Rainhill Rockets Under 9s was set up in November 2012 by the parents of some of the children at other teams who were not getting fair playing time or the right development.

RAINHILL ROCKETS UNDER 9's

MERSEYSIDE

Here at Rainhill we play an even time , small squad and development philosophy over winning and our team motto is "play happy".

We have 11 players for our 7-a-side team but run an 11 week rota so the maximum subs at a game is 3. We play Saturdays in the St. Helens & Rainhill league and on Sundays we play Futsal friendly matches which we run and this guarantees one game a week. We like to enter five or six tournaments in the summer and hopefully some Futsal ones as well. We play up a year when we can and do not mind when we lose games as it helps the kids develop what we call "strong heads".

We have a secret tactic whenever we suffer a heavy or disapointing defeat. A packet of Love Heart sweets is given out and the kids read them out. After one minute of "sugar lips" and "sweetheart" any dissapointment is soon forgotten. We also extend the same to any team that suffers a heavy loss at our hands, picking a man of the match from the other team for him to give out the sweets to his team with the same instruction, "read them out". Little things but they're still only little lads.

We try to keep as much going on as possible from huge summer presentation with freestyler displays and new for this year street soccer, to a big christmas party and christmas tournament for all the teams at the club. This is paid for by the club thanks to our charity events which we involve the kids in,

We are just trying to be a bit more than just a single team.

Children from Formby Junior Sports Club were mascots for the day for Eveton Ladies at one of their recent matches. The kids walked out with the EFC ladies and also did ball boy/girl duties during the match. Formby Junior Sports Club Girls are proudly sponsored by the One-Two Magazine
