Aylesbury FC U18s 3-0 Taplow Youth U18s
Berks and Bucks U18s County Cup Final
Being involved in such a
prestige final was
already an amazing
achievement but to win
the trophy in such a
convincing manor shows
how far this squad has
come in such a small
amount of time.
After a bruising league encounter on
Thursday night the squad was still nursing
some knocks but we were still able to select
a very strong 15.
The game was played at a frantic pace for
90 minutes and Taplow certainly played
their part in an entertaining final.
In the first half both teams had chances
with Taplow probably having the best
chance but the forward placed his volley
wide. Midway through the first half
Aylesbury Settled down and started to play
some great attacking football which ripped
Taplow apart. The first goal came from a
long throw from Mitchell Collins which fell
to Bradley Stowe who curled a great
finish into the top corner. This really
gave Aylesbury confidence and the
midfield 3 of Rob Tomlin, Alex Wray
and Mitchell Collins started playing
some great football. The second goal
was a bit of pure class from Mitchell
Collins, the midfielder chipped the
ball over the defenders head and
calmly volleyed the ball home from
10 yards .

impressive wins in the earlier rounds
beating last year’s Fab Academy in the
quarter finals.
With Taplow now coming out with nothing
to lose we could not relax and had to take
the game to them again, Ty Deacon broke
through on the right but his powerful shot
was hit just wide. With Rob Tomlin and Alex
Wray still pulling the strings it was only a
matter of time until we increased the lead.
The ball was chipped to Ken Feyi who
superbly brought the ball down, beat the
defender and slide it passed the keeper. 30.
The Aylesbury defence was marshalled by
the impressive defence partnership of
Bradley Stowe and Zack Crossingham and it
wasn’t until the last 15 minutes did Taplow
start to test the solid back 4 but not really
creating a clear cut chance.
This is a fantastic win for the Under 18’s and
fully deserved winners after some
Through the eyes of a manager/coach
full-time.so 4 1/2 years later I am now the
manager/coach of said team lol.
I can already hear people saying if you don't
like it don't do it. if it was that easy I would
of walked away years ago but 5 years after
I started taking my son to a local football
team I found myself falling back in love
with football again. After about 6 months I
was asked if I could help out with the
coaching side of things just to the end of
the season (how hard could it be right). I
even told the team only to the end of the
season as I did not have the time to do it
I am sure you have read some where all the
bad points about being a manager of a
grassroots football team and I can tell you it
is, I see parents for 2-3 hours a week
training and then maybe an hour and 30
minutes for a match of a Sunday (that is the
parents that stay to watch and not the ones
who just drop off they kids and then pick
them back up after)but I can tell you it is a
full time job for me on top of the other job
that gets in the road but have to do to pay

Do I like what I do (most of the time)
yes, would I change it for the world NO..

Choosing man of the match was so hard
this week as we had some great
performances, Alex Rickard and Shani
Hussain both fantastic as full backs, Mitchell
Collins and Alex Wray controlling the
midfield, Ken Feyi being a handful for the
Taplow Defence. The award this week goes
to captain Rob Tomlin who played an
outstanding game and was driving force
from midfield.

manager/coach does would and should not
surprise you. Do will I always get it right NO
will I do things that in the parents eyes are
wrong YES will I give your child %100 of my
time and effort YES I WILL .remember I am
also a parent and I do this for free.
Watching your team on a cold wet dark
Sunday morning playing football with smiles
all over their faces is all the payment I need
to carry on doing it.
I lose money from work to leave early for
