Although LA-based, South African-born artist Ziman has
directed videos for names such as Ozzy Osbourne, Toni
Braxton, and Michael Jackson, he has been focusing on
creating awareness in his home country lately. His recent
exhibition Ghosts gave half a dozen Zimbabwean craftsmen
in Johannesburg six months employment, and drew attention
to the international arms deal and Africa – because ‘normally
it only goes one way, into Africa’. Raised in the City of Gold
during apartheid, he grew up in ‘a country that was heavily
armed’ and ‘feels that this is something you should take a
stand against.’
