On Your Doorstep Issue 1 | Page 45

In some scenes, I deliberately include the blurred figures of people walking along the lake wall, or seagulls on the marine lake. The camera-induced motion blur gives the birds and the people a ghostly quality which I feel complements the abstract style of the landscapes

I know it’s a very personal choice, but I enjoy these images and some will probably end up framed on my walls. What I particularly like is that, barring some minor cropping to level horizons, some tonal adjustments and occasional slight softening, these images are otherwise straight out of the camera. No Photoshop layers or filters have been used to produce the effects that are seen.

I have no doubt that this will be an ongoing project for me; as the seasons change, so will the light and (hopefully!) the weather. Without a doubt, this has been one of the most enjoyable series of work that I have produced – and I didn’t even have to go as far as my doorstep!
