A Room with a View

Mark Reeves

Mark Reeves LRPS explains how he was moved to capture the views from his new home and how he went about this in an unconventional way.

The best thing my parents ever did when I was young was move to Scotland. From our house in Fife we had a view of the nearby Ochils and the distant Trossachs. I may have been stuck in my room studying for exams, but outside were the hills – beckoning me with the promise of wilderness and adventure.

Following school and university I moved to London, living for far too long in the city where beautiful views are both rare and (usually) very expensive.

So, with this legacy, when my partner and I recently moved north, a great view was high on our list of must-haves. After some scouting around, we decided to live in West Kirby on the Wirral. The views from our front windows really are big, across the River Dee estuary to the hills of north Wales beyond.
