FINALLY!!! Beautiful weather is here! That means
late evenings, time in the sun and bronzed skin.
But let’s help keep your body’s biggest organ
(yep – your skin) safe by using sunblock and opt
for self-tanning. There are a ton of great options
for self-tanners but the most important step is
prepping and maintaining that gorgeous glow. I
suggest applying tanner at night or when you
don’t plan on leaving the house for a minimum of
eight hours. This four step process will give you
the gorgeous glow you crave. - Written By Korena

1. One Hour Prior To Application
Take a shower and be sure to shave. Exfoliating is the MOST important step. Opt for a product
with a heavy grit. This will prevent flakiness and uneven tone. Remember after you shower, Do
NOT apply deodorant or lotion. This just creates another barrier preventing the product from
properly adhering.
Here are my current favorite products perfect for exfoliating:
Posh Snarky Bar. Multiple scents to choose from and they are all essential oil based so no added
chemicals for that beautiful skin of yours.
LimeLight by Alcone’s Bamboo Renew Body Scrub. Made from only products found in nature with
a base of lemongrass and mimosa flower, you can apply it with only your hands.
Organic Raw Sugar. This is a cheap option that you can pick up at any grocery store. Mix with
warm water to create a pureed consistency and use your hands to apply.
2. Application
3. Next Morning
Time to shower. Avoid using soap and be
careful if you are shampooing (run off can
affect your tan).
Skip shaving.
Follow the recommendation on your product
label as far as how long you should wait to
take a shower. Most product labels
recommend six to eight hours.
Apply away! I highly suggest picking up a mitt if
you are a do it yourselfer. Amazon has some
great choices and most wash out great right in
the washing machine.
Allow product to fully dry before placing
clothing on your body. This will take anywhere
from five to ten minutes depending on the type
of product you use.
4. Next 5 – 7 Days
Avoid harsh soaps. Instead opt for a fragrance
free soap or shower gel. The fragrances can
breakdown your tan.
Shave as little as possible. Unfortunately
shaving takes off the top layer of our skin and
can also take your color with it.
Apply lotion twice daily. This should also be
fragrance free. Grab Aveeno or Eucerin. My
personal favorite is Brazilian Bombshell from
Posh Products.
