How Much Technology Is Too Much ?

I am a mompreneur and am constantly trying to find balance between work and life . Mompreneuring spills into kiddo time and vice versus . It ’ s hard . Sometimes I just want five minutes to get dinner going or take a shower . When does the tv become a babysitter instead of a tool to leverage in those transition times . Here is my experience .
I have a two and a half year old and he knows the difference between my ipad , iphone and kindle and knows how to operate all three ( don ’ t worry they are kid proof in terms of content ). It is wild to me to see how well he learns from technology but one thing I ’ ve noticed is that he constantly looks for my response when he is watching or playing on any technology . This got me to thinking that it is important for me to be part of the experience of using technology . He looks to me when something is scary or he is confused . He asks me questions or I ask him questions . He likes my approval when it comes to technology but I noticed that when he gets more he wants more .
While finding technology free time as a family has been increasingly more important to me and my family especially when we are all together . I am not afraid to use it when I need to take a shower , get dinner ready or finish up a call . I take a great deal of pride in the fact that I live in a world where my son gets to be raised by me , day in and day out and I get to watch him grow and thrive .
In my household we use technology to fill in the gaps when he can ’ t have my undivided attention or when I ’ m finishing up some work stuff we “ do business ” together . I teach him that my work is on this computer and I learn from here . When he gets older I will share how I make money through the internet but until then together we do business and it ’ s fun . I leverage technology in moderation to help me in those times of need when I just don ’ t have that extra hand but , only education stuff . Raising children in this day and age is harder and more complicated than ever but , it is important to remember to be an active participant in your child ’ s life . This to me is the most important thing . Yes , technology helps me , but I also make sure my little man gets my undivided attention .
