Creating
Healthy Habits
For Kids
Not As Hard
As You Think
A
s a busy mompreneur, one of my many
priorities is creating a healthy lifestyle for myself
and for my son. I will confess, my toddler is a bit
of a technology (ipad specifically) addict but like
many good things in life, it is ok in moderation. I
believe healthy habits will help set him up for
success later in life and help him to live a long
life.
My focus for healthy habits are divided into six
categories.
Eating well:
Creating healthy eating habits start by making
smart food choices. This is easy in my house
since, my son, lives off of granola, greek yogurt
and fruit. If he wasn’t such a picky eater I would
encourage parents to get their kids involved in
the kitchen and let them see what foods go into
their meals. I get that this can’t happen every
meal but they should know what goes into their
meals. Since I’m in charge of the grocery
shopping, I never go overboard buying the
sweets. I prefer to make them if we have them.
Since this requires time, (and I’m short on it
lately) we typically end up with sweets in the
house. I also find that kids will reach for fruit
when there aren’t any sweets around. A smarter
snack alternative.
