What is Dermaplaning? " Get rid of fine peach fuzz and dead skin cells on your face. " A Why do we do it? few weeks ago, I saw posts and videos everywhere about women shaving their face. The point of this was that it was to give a deeper exfoliation, leaving skin smoother and healthier looking. Using a single blade razor will not only remove the fine, peach fuzz we all have, but it will also scrap off dead skin cells laying on the surface. The removal of these will leave your skin looking clearer, and your makeup applying smoother than before. The fact is this is nothing new. It's actually called Dermaplaning, and it's something that Estheticians everywhere do. There is, however, a way to do this at home the safe way. It's quick and easy to do at home. Using a single blade razor, hold it at a slight angle and lightly glide down your face. Very little pressure should be applied. Some even prefer to lather up before doing this to make it smoother. Personally, I have not had to do that. How do you do it? Won't I grow a beard? This is usually the #1 concern. The short answer is, no you won't. Shaving in any area of your body or face cannot change the structure of the hair follicle. It will grow in the same texture and color as before. My friend tried it and she said that her face felt rough as the hair grew back in. This might happen. But that doesn't mean you're growing a beard. A normal hair follicle is tapered at the end. A hair that has been shaved off, now has a blunt end which will make it feel slightly rough at first. It doesn't stay like that though. How often do I have to do this? To maintain a healthy, smooth appearance I recommend monthly. I do not recommend doing it more than 2-3 times per month. Over-exfoliation can have negative effects on your skin. s always, if you regularly see an Esthetician, be sure to check with them to see if it's something that would benefit your skins appearance.
