EDITORS NOTE: Like Ryan Young, Mark Manniko is very much a student of
the sport of trials. And like Young, Mark was one of the most methodologi-
cal riders on the circuit. During Mark’s heyday (as he is pictured above), he
was a pure joy to watch due to his technical skills. He was often called the
“King of the Splatter”, and he also coined the phrase “dig a hole”, when
teaching others about exploding into a splatter.
