On The Pegs
Is Six Days a race you enjoy going
to?
Yeah, I enjoy it a lot. It’s just super cool
to travel the world to a completely un-
known terrain and place and just ride
it. The format is super cool. The long
days and the long transfer trails of just
riding and really enjoying that. Then
pushing the limits in the special tests
and learning from the European riders
and everything. I really enjoy that type
of racing. I think I have a lot of room for
improvement over there.
What did you grow up riding?
2016 was the first year racing the
GNCC’s, but before that I just raced lo-
cally up in New England, coming from
Connecticut. I grew up racing the NE-
TRA series and then the J-Day series
came on the scene, so I raced those a
lot. Raced the sprint enduros there in
2015 and ’16 and was able to win the
championship. That kind of helped me
a lot with my spring speed. That kind
of helped me really enjoy going to Six
Days and doing the sprint enduro style
races. Just grew up racing locally. Defi-
nitely just coming to race nationally,
it’s not like I’ve been around for a long
time. So just coming onto the scene. I’m
just like a new face to a lot of people. I
think they’re still learning who I am.
Out of all the different types of
terrain you ride, what do you enjoy
riding most?
It’s hard to say because I just like rid-
ing everything. I think growing up in
New England it’s really rocky and rooty,
so that suits my style the best. I’m the
best at that. So I do really enjoy that

probably the most. But I definitely have
room for improvement on grass tracks
and faster tracks and stuff like that. So
that’s what I’ve been riding a lot this
past year. I’m really enjoying that now,
just because it’s new.
You’re probably used to riding a lot
of mud, slippery conditions?
Yeah, a lot of mud and rocks and
roots and slippery, tough, technical
conditions pretty much all the time. I’m
just used to that. It comes to a muddy
race and everyone gets worried, and
for me I don’t mind it. Let the rain come
in. I think I’m a good mud rider, and just
being taller it helps me. Growing up
riding that. I really enjoy it.
When you get on your bike and
ride around and make sure it’s okay.
What’s the first thing that’d bring
you back to the pits?
I’m not too picky. Pretty much I can
ride anything. Definitely the degree the
handlebars are rolled back and lever
placement for sure. That and I guess
rear brake height. But other than that,
I’m not too picky.
Tell us a little bit about what you
do away from the bike?
I really am into mountain biking. I
like to mountain bike a lot. It’s a form
of training, but I do it for fun anyway.
Whether it’s downhill mountain biking
or enduro style trails, I really enjoy that.
Pretty much that’s what I like to do for
fun right now is just mainly mountain
biking and hanging out with my friends
and just stepping away from the dirt
bikes for a little bit. n
