On The Pegs May 2018 - Volume 3 - Issue 5 | Page 116

On The Pegs Tuesday morning I loaded up the car at 6:00 am and started off on the three hour drive from Marquette to the Mackinaw Bridge. Unfortunately I only made it about half- way there before the radiator in my old Subaru Forester blew. I ended up rolling into a small town called Engadine, Michigan with my engine smoking, power steering and brakes both shot. Luckily I was able to get a ride down with some awesome locals in the town who were heading to my hometown of Petoskey. They offered to drop me off at home, but I asked instead if they could drop me off at the Bridge so that I could get another session in with Phil. They drove me over an hour down to the bridge and I made it just in time for another four plus hour day on the ice. I took the rest of the week off from school, and shot with Phil everyday. We capped off the week with a Thursday night shoot, in which we brought some of Phil’s lights and a gen- erator out on the ice with us on a sled. Luckily Phil’s father in law and my dad Erik came with us to help us cary the load. We only had three lights between the four of us so getting out and back was a little difficult at times, but the shoot made the cold walk worth it! In the end, I was able to get my car fixed, Phil got a new baby goat, and we got two weeks worth of time on the ice! n P 116
