You’ve mentioned this event was inspired by the Scottish Six Days. What
appealed to you about the Scottish Six Days?
I’ve been participating in the Scottish the past three years. I realized that I was
the only Latin American competing there. I said, “well, this is really weird”. So, as
I made some friends that participate every year, I asked them, “Have you seen
Latin Americans participating here?” They said, “No. You’re the only one.” Was
like, “Wow. This is really shocking. Why is that happening?” I realized that we
had a couple factors. First of all is the language barrier. It is not a problem for
me because I speak English, but a lot of people [in Latin America] do not speak
English. Then the distance, the cost, and most especially the level of the course.
Everybody knows that the Scottish Six Days trial is the most difficult competi-
tion for long distance in the world for trials. So I assume that a lot of people
wouldn’t want to risk their investment by going, spending five or six thousand
