“It’s been such a tough weekend of racing
here in Finland, but it’s gone really well for
me. Day one was just brutal. I think every-
one expected the Finnish riders to be a level
above everyone else and they showed just
how strong they are in these conditions. Hats
off to them. In a few of the tests I let some of
the Finns overtake me in the hope that I could
learn their lines and follow them, but I had no
chance – they were just too fast. But I’m happy
with the way I rode, all things considered.
Finishing as the highest placed non-Finnish
rider on both days is great. It was about try-
ing to minimize mistakes this weekend, ride
within myself and generally try and be smart
and make the best start to the championship
as I could. I feel like I did that and got some
good points, so I’m pleased with the way ev-
