SPRING 2019 EDITION PUBLISHER Lisa Chappell publisher@heraldbanner.com EDITOR Kristal Kuykendall kristal@heraldbanner.com You’ve probably heard it as “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” It’s an interesting phrase, and not as applicable in these modern times as, perhaps, it once was. But I’ve come to appreciate and understand those words in a new way since becoming a Texan. When I was a child living in Central Arkansas, I traveled to Rockwall every summer to spend a few weeks with family friends who lived here. The landscape has changed so dramatically since those visits in the mid-1980s that when I moved here last year I could hardly believe my eyes! Yes please! Yes, Rockwall County has changed in every visible manner imaginable over the past few decades, and it continues to grow into a more wonderful place to live and work. But when you consider the important things – quality of life, the spirit of true community – it is clear that, at least here, the saying rings true: The more things change, the more they stay the same, in all the best ways.
