when not much else is flowering. We’ve got lots of varieties coming into stock freesias, daffodils, hyacinths, tulips, anemones , crocus and Jonquils just to name a few. You can theme your garden with a one colour display or why not go for a kaleidoscope of colours to create a impact for spring. Plant me now ƒ ƒ Bulbs – daffodils, Tulips, Hyacinths Crocus and more ƒ ƒ Pansies & Violas – out with the petunias and in with these to give colour throughout the cooler months. ƒ ƒ Sweet Peas – add colour and perfume to your garden with these easy to grow annuals. Traditionally planted on St Patricks Day 17th of March. ƒ ƒ Garlic – handy tip, wait until the cloves have started to shoot and the deeper the cloves are planted, the wider the harvest will be. Just don’t go too deep. ƒ ƒ Native plants – great time to get them established ƒ ƒ Autumn/Winter Veggies – almost anything leafy and root vegetables – cabbages, kale, onion, leek, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, broad beans. If you are not sure ask us in store . Jobs to do in the garden Feed your garden: The start of a new season is a great time to fertilise plants to make the most of the growing conditions. Any fertilizer is better then nothing but a good balance general fertilizer is often the best. Improve your soil for Autumn/Winter Vegetable planting: The better the soil is the better your harvest will be, so plenty of organic matter like manure and compost to improve and rejuvenate your veggie patch will do wonders. Fertilise Lawns: A lot of lawns are looking tired after summer, a good feed now with the milder weather will keep them happy and healthy leading into the cooler months. Lightly Prune Roses: If you haven’t done it lately “dead heading” roses or a light prune now will result in a good Autumn flush of flowers for you to enjoy before they go dormant.
