from the past For five years on the button has been reporting on events, pulling together pieces of history and publishing some old pictures in and around Arlesey. This month we thought we would show some of the events covered from 2012 onwards. by Steve Maddox PM comes to Arlesey November 2012 Not long after starting ‘on the button’ I was asked if I wanted to take some pictures at an event with a VIP. I said yes not knowing who the VIP was. It was a Press Conference for the Conservative candidate for the Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner Jas Palmer. Organised by Arlesey residents Association it was at the W.I. Hall in the High Street. Attended by a group of residents and local dignitaries the cameras were there from national TV networks too, and televised the same night. The then Prime Minister David Cameron came along also to throw his weight behind the campaign. The event was soured not long after when the councillors at the time heard about it after the event, having not been invited. 8 on the button issue 63 November 2017 | 01462 834265 | [email protected] | www.on-the-button.co.uk
