The decision was made after a two year court case. Mrs Hare from Elstow in Bedfordshire had claimed Constructive Dismissal after resigning the position of Clerk in February 2015. The council issued a statement on the 1st of May saying “Arlesey Town Council (ATC) can today report that the employment tribunal brought against the Council by the former Town Clerk, Mrs Elsie Hare, has been concluded with a positive outcome for ATC. Mrs Hare’s claim of constructive unfair dismissal has not been successful and has been dismissed. Furthermore, ATC has been awarded costs of £350. ATC would like to thank Councillor Chris Livermore for his considerable time and efforts in working with ATC’s legal representatives in the defence of this case, along with all those who gave evidence in support of ATC”. Update: 8th June 2017. The council reported today that the Council will not bear the costs of defending this action. Its statement on the website reads: “Arlesey Town Council is pleased to announce that the costs of successfully defending an employment tribunal claim of unfair dismissal by an ex employee are to be recovered in full from our insurers. Defending this claim was cornerstone to our election commitment of addressing and resolving legacy issues. The council has now achieved that and with this reimbursement we can move forward proactively and with financial stability.” “This matter will be included within the Council’s June meeting agenda and will be reflected in our 2017/18 accounts.” Making Music Day Vivace choir open rehearsal Edgeworth House– see ad Sunday Arlesey Duck Race Splash Down at 2.30pm Sunday he Children’s Society Quiz Night T Arlesey Scout Hut7.30pm to 10.00pm Friday Please contact us for all your carpentry needs From interior joinery such as, fitted wardrobes, staircases and doors, to roofing and outdoor structures Contact Details Phone – 01438 213646 Mobile – 07703048326 email – [email protected] You can also find us on Facebook Mrs Hare with her husband leaving an appeal hearing in Arlesey on 21st April 2015.
