47 Hospital Road , Arlesey , Bedfordshire . SG15 6RH news

On 16th of May at the Annual Meeting of the Town Council Chris Ferris and Chris Gravett were duly elected as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the council for the coming year .
May has been a busy month for planning with several members involved with researching and preparing representations for consideration by the planning authority . Planning applications relating to Central Bedfordshire Council owned land to the East of Arlesey have been considered at CBC ’ s Development Management Committee meeting . ATC spoke in opposition to the application for two roundabouts on the new Eastern relief road . Objection was based on a traffic analysis and not taking account of the adopted Master plan for Arlesey MA08 . Ward Cllr . Dalgarno also spoke on the principle of avoiding piecemeal planning applications and deviation from the adopted master plan . Our biggest concern remains the arbitrary removal of 10 ha of employment land . We will continue to fight for it to be reinstated and to avoid Arlesey becoming a dormitory commuter town .
The Council is registering its opposition to the resubmission of an application for a change of use of Hampden House on Hitchin Road from Industrial / Business to Residential under permitted development . The basis for opposition is that the noise impacts on the potential residents cannot be properly mitigated , and the transport impacts have not been properly considered .
Arlesey ’ s Neighbourhood Plan – the community led plan containing resident ’ s aspirations for the future of Arlesey , will shortly be examined and then be subject to referendum – more details will be publicised shortly but if you would like to know more about this in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact Cllr Jon Want ( jon @ jonwant . co . uk ) for more details .
Plans have been drawn up to make the MUGA a much-improved community facility for all users and the project progressing well . It is anticipated that a significant proportion of the necessary funding will be available via grants from various sporting and charitable bodies .
The employment tribunal brought against the Council by the former Town Clerk , Mrs Elsie Hare , has been concluded with a positive outcome for ATC . Mrs Hare ’ s claim of constructive unfair dismissal has not been successful and has been dismissed . Furthermore , ATC have been awarded costs of £ 350 .
ATC would like to thank Councillor Chris Livermore for his considerable time and efforts in working with ATC ’ s legal representatives in the defence of this case , along with all those who gave evidence in support of ATC .
