➜ teams and share the problems, its so different to here, in Britain we have this thing where you feel you have to solve it yourself, its to do with the fact that you’re worried people think you can’t do it. I think all artists have this thing that secretly they worry they’re a fake! But I came back from America and now I have this thing where if I have a problem with a story I find somebody to bat it about with! The other thing is I love being involved with a charity thing. A very good friend of mine, Lemn Sissay, runs a Christmas dinner for young care leavers who quite often will be isolated and on their own on Christmas day, so he raises the money so they get taken to a beautiful venue with beautiful food and presents on Christmas day. And then there is a little secret, which we’ll let people in Arlesey know about which is a surprise that I’ve helped with, because I can’t be there because I’ve got my own family, but I do know a lot of famous people through my work so I organise a video Christmas message, which I did with you last year (that’s me Jodie!) and we collected special messages and edited together into a short film which gets shown on the day. We had Gok Wan, Keith Lemon, Philip Schofield, Amanda Holden, The Coroner Cast and some Casualty cast, it blows their minds. And I remember you sent me the cut and it made me cry. minty films Jodie Chillery is a television producer who has filmed in places that vary from the Himalayas to fishing trawlers in the English Channel for the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, C5 and most of the others! Jodie started Minty films and produces intimate heartfelt short What’s the best thing about living in Arlesey? What I love about Arlesey is there is a really strong community. People look out for each other, I can walk down the road and bump into to people and they are all very different, it’s a very real place. I don’t feel so much like an incomer now, my kids have grown here. I talk a lot about Arlesey when I go to production companies, I tell them all about the Arlesey Remembers You project and I try to do it without crying and I talk about Felix who does my hair and I talk about when I was a governor at the Nursery and the way it was run is so fantastic. Every school here has recognised my kids talents. There are some places you can live where everyone is the same and I tell you what as an artists that is the worst, I want to meet people that are different and diverse – blue collar, white collar, vicar collar – everyone. We bought our house from an Art teacher who sold it to us on the condition we would continue to make art here. So we did we set up a youth theatre group, building sets in the garden and rehearsed at Edgeworth house. And Michael sings in The White Horse as Mr. Serenade and I went to talk to the W.I., I feel very connected here. If you ever need anything there will be somebody in Arlesey who can get it for you! films for communities, individuals, charities, artists, start ups, small businesses & social enterprises. The films tell powerful, engaging stories that need to be told whether that be for promotional purposes, raising awareness or for fundraising. mintyfilms.org Arlesey music & arts festival After 18 months’ planning, our Music and Arts Festival is about to take place!
