It has been just over a year since the election and the new Council formed.
It met 24 times, significantly more than in a typical year, this was so it could
begin to deal with a number of legacy issues it inherited. Communications
and accountability were an early priority. We trust that residents have
benefitted from improved access to councillors, council meetings and
information. As well as working on improvements to the way Council
operates, we have been keen to get things done. A new Clerk (Susan
Foulkes) was appointed in December. New Playground equipment, Street
furniture and Christmas lights have been installed and maintained. We
have also provided funding for a number of local projects and initiated
high level engagement with CBC in relation to planning matters. We are
not complacent and recognise there is much more we can and must do
to support the best interests of Arlesey. In the near future that means
exploring further the possibility of CCTV (a recent FUNDING application we
made was declined), maintaining focus on ensuring Arlesey gets the best
from current and forthcoming development and establishing funding to
introduce a Lollipop person to make walking to school safer for our Children.
We are looking for sponsorship. Can you or your business help ? One final
plea that we can all help with – please drive and park safely and courteously
throughout Arlesey.

Arlesey will be having a Music and Arts Festival this year, October
8th – 23rd. Performances and contributions from our local schools
– Gothic Mead, Etonbury and Samuel Whitbread - and many
other groups and organisations, including over a dozen concerts/
performances;
