47 Hospital Road, Arlesey, Bedfordshire. SG15 6RH news What a fantastic turnout there was for the switching on of Arlesey’s first Christmas lights. Arlesey Town Council had obtained the lights but the event itself was organised by members of the community alongside the council for the whole village to enjoy. Increasing Community involvement is one of the objectives of this council and going by the organising of the “carol singing” and ATC’s Christmas tree at St Peter’s Christmas Tree Festival it is proving to be popular and very welcome. We hope that it will not only be helping with the organising of events that residents want to get involved in but all aspects of what happens within Arlesey. The new Town Clerk, Susan Foulkes, has now been in post for two month and proving to be a great asset, not only in support of councillors and staff but also in giving advice and guidance to residents. If you have an enquiry why not pop into the office or phone (01462 733722) or email: [email protected]. Alternatively feel free to contact any councillor – details can be found on the website www.arleseytc.co,uk At the time of writing it remains undetermined if there will be an election in January to fill the two vacancies for Town Councillors. If an election does occur, you as a resident have the opportunity to select in a democratic way who will represent you in these two seats on the Council. As we head into the New Year there will be many new challenges and goals for this council and with your support we believe we can achieve them. As representatives of the Arlesey community it is important that the Council uses this opportunity wisely, especially in its dealings with Central Bedfordshire Council on local matters. We thank you for your continued support and may we, your councillors wish you all a Very Happy New Year. •O pen from 7.00am to 6.15pm. I am a newcomer to Arlesey and have lived here for just over a year. I chose to live here after I sensed a tremendous community spirits in projects like Arlesey Remembers You. I have been made very welcome and I love living here. It is a huge contrast to the big town I have moved from and I want to help maintain Arlesey’s unique character. I have the enthusiastic, untarnished view of a new member of the community with a fresh pair of eyes. If elected my priorities will be: 1. Continuing what I see as a great start by the new Council. 2. Listening to residents and businesses and learning what they want and need. 3. Doing my utmost to help people realise those wants and needs. In my short time here I have been very much involved in the Arlesey Neighbourhood Plan. I am currently part of the team analysing the results of the survey delivered to everyone’s door. The end result of the Neighbourhood Plan will be a better Arlesey. My pledge – I will endeavour to: • Put the Village and it’s residents first. • Represent the residents in an open and transparent manner • Engage meaningfully and fairly with the businesses in the Village to ensure they are heard. Independents for Arlesey (IfA) is NOT a political party. Candidates who stand under the IfA logo all share a common ethos to act with honesty, transparency and integrity, and in the best interests of Arlesey and its residents, free from any party whip. All IfA candidates are truly independent with their own manifestos, no affiliation with any political party and all are Arlesey residents.
