news The recent fireworks display at the White Horse has benefitted from a grant from Arlesey Town Council. This event has been organised by the Scouts for many years and they are to be applauded for the spectacular show this year and for their continuing efforts to bring our community together. ATC has also purchased some Christmas lights for the trees outside the community centre, and the lights were scheduled on Friday 27th November to be switched on. A local child was selected from names in a hat to ‘flick the switch’. A community Carols Singing event is planned for 19th December and is to be accompanied by festive treats. Arlesey Town Council continues to press CBC for an improvement in the traffic and parking situation around Gothic Mede academy and the community centre, and has published a draft proposal to improve road safety at the side entrance and make access to the school rear entrance easier for buggies. Please pass any comments to the Council Office. We are also pressing CBC to publish the results of their recent parking survey around the station. As a result of two recent resignations, nominations are now open for to join the council. Forms can be obtained from the Council office or from the CBC office in Chicksands. Nominations close in December and if necessary an election will be held on January 14th. The Arlesey Neighbourhood Plan is gaining momentum and this is the next stage of consultation on the future of the village. Please take time to fill it out and send back in the reply envelope. Arlesey Pre-School After losing our oldest children to Lower School in September Arlesey Preschool was considerably quieter than the summer term BUT we are please as punch to say that from January we are going to be busier than ever! With breakfast club and additional lunch ‘add-on’ to our morning session, our flexibility is proving very popular. If you are interested in your child joining our setting please get in touch asap as sessions are beginning to fill up! We held our committee A.G.M on Wednesday 4th November and were pleased to be able to welcome 2 new members into the fold and sad to say goodbye to a few who are moving on after years of valued service.
