Arlesey Town Football Club Arlesey Town Football Club is a members owned, volunteer run football club based in Arlesey, Bedfordshire. It has two senior teams playing a high level of football at Steps 4 and 6 of the National League System. In addition to the footballing facilities, the Club has a Members Bar with reduced bar prices for Members, a function suite which can hold events for 150+ people with its own bar facilities, and a host of activities such as a Petanque Club and darts teams. Annual Membership Prices : Adult Single £10.000 • Adult Couple £15.00 • Concession Single £6.00 • Concession Couple £9.00 After a very informative opening meeting on the Working Groups by Alison Eardley, initial meetings have been held for some of the Working Groups. The aim of these small groups is to engage with various sections of the community to gain information and aspirations of the village, and to add these into the content of the plan. It is vital to put together a plan that reflects the views of as many areas of the community as possible. So the Working Groups will be looking to contact residents, local business, authorities, schools – just about everyone who can make a difference. This is our Harvest supper in the company of our Parish vicar Geoffrey Boult. As we usually do when we have a meal, please note the early start 7.00pm. It is a Bring and Share Supper so if you are coming and haven’t signed up for what you are bringing please speak to Bron. – 639500. We will also have a collection of dried & tinned food, toiletries etc for ‘The NEED project’ 100 years of the WI celebration Tuesday 15th September A special social evening. It’s a party!!! To celebrate the centenary of the WI So put your glad rags on, bring a bottle and come at 7.15pm and have some fun. We have 2 entertainers: Sing-a-long with Shirley plus Maggie’s Cameron Lines a comedienne. Nibbles and glasses supplied. New members welcome. This evening is free but with an optional £1 ( or more) donation to Parkinson’s UK. Sylvia Geekie A group of members of Arlesey W.I. attended the funeral on Monday August 10th of Sylvia Geekie who had recently died, one month short of her 98th birthday. We went to pay our respects and to remember with fondness and joy our lovely Sylvia. She was probably our most long standing member. A member for 84 years, she joined when she was just 14 years old and the W.I. became an important part of her life. Sylvia was always cheerful, full of fun, and prettily dressed. Arlesey W.
