Welcome to the May issue of on the button.
The Three Counties Asylum story seems to have captured a lot of
attention and I have been delivering ‘back copies’ to quite a few people to
read the whole story. This month sees Part 4 of the feature, written and
supplied by Richard Knight. Richard is quite an authority on the hospital
and its history. Both Richard and his wife he will be holding an exhibition
of photos and memorabilia at Stotfold Memorial Hall. The celebration Day
is to commemorate 155 years since the hospital opened, and will see
DJs from Fairfield Radio along with a variety of stalls relating to the whole
hospital. Please go along on the 28th June and delve into the archives of
this mysterious and fascinating site.
I’m pleased to say that recent months has seen ‘on the button’ grow
in pages and circulation. It is my intention to fill every issue with news,
information and history from all surrounding areas, so whether you have
an exhibition, a fun day, bell-ringing practice or a custom car show I
would like to add this to the pages.
I recently attended a funeral at Harwood Park in Stevenage. It was
the funeral of a dear friend who sadly passed away after a long fight
with Cancer. Benedict Funeral Directors were employed to oversee the
proceedings and I can honestly say it went very smoothly. The presence
of the staff unobtrusive, but they were there at the right moments.
Overall just what you would want. Well done Benedict.
It has come to our attention that in the March issue we ommitted
