ith February here, the worst of the Winter weather should be
behind us, and we can now look forward Spring. What ever that
means to you it seems a good time to start making plans. Aim to get fit,
dig-over the veg patch ready for new season, dust off the bike and plan
some outings or maybe decorates the house.
All around the area are footpaths and tracks that give us the benefit
of being able to access the countryside within five minutes of leaving
our houses. Riding a bicycle here is easy as there are routes for all ages
within easy reach. Country walks like the Hicca Way and Kingfisher Way
touch our boundaries and give us access to miles of countryside.
This month we start Part One of a new feature on Three Counties
Hospital, this will probably be a five part feature. So if you have any
stories or images from the days when it was open as a Hospital we would
love to hear from you. See page 8.
The whole country will be gearing up for the General Election on May
7th see page 11.
As I write this I have mixed thoughts. There are lots of positive things
going on around me and this year is proving to be eventful already – and
its only just the end of January. There is also sadness as a longstanding friend, Gail Allen, recently lost her battle with Bowel Cancer.
A very positive lady with a caring nature. She was a shining light in the
community committing time to several different groups, and later actively
spreading the word about Bowel Cancer, while being treated for it herself.
I will remember her fondly for her role, beside me as the Scarecrow in
Wizard of Oz the panto. Goodbye Gail our thoughts are with your family.
