It was also lovely to meet so many people who came to our services and events over the Christmas period thank you for coming! January is traditionally a time for making (and often forgetting!) our New Year resolutions. Above all let’s try to keep in mind the ways in which we were moved at Christmas time – perhaps by joy, or love or in a number of different ways; and keep in mind the fact that Jesus’ life showed a radical example of how to do things differently – as individuals, families, communities even as nations. One of the projects that St Peter’s Church will be starting this year is our ‘Open Church’. Currently the Church building, like many in Bedfordshire, is locked except when there is a service. Supported by our Diocesan Bishop, Alan, we are planning to have the Church open every day, so that people can come in whenever they like – to say a prayer, remember a loved one, spend some time in reflection, to look at the architecture and history of the building or just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet. It is my firm belief that our Church buildings should be open daily for people to use and enjoy, and to underpin the message that God’s love is for everyone. If you are interested in helping with this project in any way please do get in touch with me. We shall be needing volunteers to unlock and lock the church each day, but also to help in other ways too. There is a surprising amount of preparation that we need to do before we can open the doors, so watch out for news over the next few months. You can see updates on; http://openchurch.arlesey.org.uk and of course on our notice boards as well as in ‘on the button’. Wishing you all a happy and prosperous new year!
