Elizabeth Viney died earlier in the year and in her will left her house and monies to the church, to be invested and the income to be used for the purpose of maintenance and repair to the fabric of the parish church of St Peter Arlesey.” Although the estimated value of this bequest (including the house) is around £890,000 the terms of the Will mean that this capital sum cannot itself be spent; only income generated by it can be spent. And that can only be spent on repairs and maintenance to the Church. The Parochial Church Council is currently taking advice on the best way to invest this sum and to deal with the property, for both the long term and short term needs of the Church fabric. Further information about this will be displayed in the Church and through newsletters in “On The Button”, or enquiries may be directed to; The Vicar, The Vicarage, Church Lane, Arlesey SG15 6UX email; [email protected] The Reverend Geoffrey Boult, Vicar and Chair of St Peter’s Parochial Church Council said: “I am sure that the whole community joins with us in expressing heart-felt thanks to Miss Viney for her generosity. Beth and her sister Marian shared an equal commitment to and love of the Church. The bequest will considerably help us to keep this historic grade 1 listed building in good repair, and continue its contribution to the spiritual well-being of the Arlesey community.” • Classic Greene King ales • Large family garden • Texas hold’em poker – Thursday nights • Sunday night Quiz plus ‘Play Your Cards Right’ • Weekly food menu – Tuesday to Sunday • Large screen TV for major events Now • Old Oak golf society showing • Pool & darts SKY Sports ur to wish all o We would like erry christmas and customers a m r. ette and Staff yea Paul and Ann a happy new the Old Oak What’s On at pm Quiz at 9:00 Boxing Day – December: Year’s Eve 31st Smith at 9:00pm New mer & site Maxwell, Ham eck on the web times please ch for Christmas opening 85 Church Lane, Arlesey, Beds.
