St. Peter’s church
PRESS RELEASE
Date 11th November 2014
St Peter’s Church, Arlesey, has recently become the beneficiary of
a bequest by a former parishioner and Church member, the late
Elizabeth (“Beth”) Viney.
Elizabeth Viney died earlier in the year and in her will left her house
and monies to the church, to be invested and the income to be used for
the purpose of maintenance and repair to the fabric of the parish church
of St Peter Arlesey.”
Although the estimated value of this bequest (including the house) is
around £890,000 the terms of the Will mean that this capital sum cannot
itself be spent; only income generated by it can be spent. And that can only
be spent on repairs and maintenance to the Church.
The Parochial Church Council is currently taking advice on the best way
to invest this sum and to deal with the property, for both the long term and
short term needs of the Church fabric.
Further information about this will be displayed in the Church and through
newsletters in “On The Button”, or enquiries may be directed to;
The Vicar, The Vicarage, Church Lane, Arlesey SG15 6UX
email; [email protected]
The Reverend Geoffrey Boult, Vicar and Chair of St Peter’s Parochial
Church Council said:
“I am sure that the whole community joins with us in expressing heart-felt
thanks to Miss Viney for her generosity. Beth and her sister Marian shared
an equal commitment to and love of the Church. The bequest
will considerably help us to keep this historic grade 1 listed building in
good repair, and continue its contribution to the spiritual well-being of
the Arlesey community.”
