And finally one technical resident has realised a life long ambition to build
a sound studio in his shed. The inspiration being to help with the film.
More over, friends have been made and residents have a project
to be proud of, that couldn’t have happened if so many people hadn’t
volunteered their time.
I believe the reaction from the community has been astounding and the
project is an ideal tribute to those who lost their lives because it’s personal.
The film we’ve been making will be screened in the Village Hall on
Saturday 22nd November. There will be an afternoon showing at 4.30 and
an evening showing at 7.30pm. If you haven’t got your ticket yet email
me [email protected] to book your space. There will be tea
and cake, and several display tables of WW1 pieces related to Arlesey
men kindly on show by relatives. A representative from the Bedfordshire
Regiment will also be displaying some artefacts about the regiment and
David will have some of his art work on display.
Finally I’d like to say, the involvement and enthusiasm from the community
has proved this village can do amazing things. Maybe it’s the Remembrance
theme that has captured the imagination, but I suspect that most have
enjoyed the positive community spirit that has been sparked here. So lets
continue it, lets capitalize on it and I hope it might have inspired someone
else to do something for the community in the future.

The Arlesey Remembers You team have been invited to the launch event
of the national campaign “Remember World War 1” on the 20th November.
Their aim is to “. . . to inspire and encourage individuals, communities and
organisations to reflect upon the sacrifice, service and impact on society
of World War 1 and to get involved in volunteering and community projects
today . . . ” Their website is http://www.rememberww1.org/.
Jodie has been asked to prepare a short (3 - 5 minute) trailer of our
project for which she will use material from her TV documentary. Our
project will by then be complete, so I can see that we will be of great
interest to them because it gives them an example to show people what
can be achieved.
As you can see the Arlesey Remembers You project is exactly the sort
of project they want to encourage and the fact we have been invited to this
event is a very big complement to the village’s achievement.
