3 counties social and sports club I have recently been given an old book by a lady who has moved into a house in Arlesey. She found the book in the loft, left behind by the previous owner of the house. The book contains hand-written minutes and letters from the Three Counties Social and Sports Club and dates from its inaugural meeting in 1935 and continues until 1960. So far I have only read some of the pages but already there are revelations such as the misuse of equipment and missing money resulting in resignations from the club. Below the copy is transcribed from the first typewritten page in the book. Three Counties Hospital – 1935 STAFF SOCIAL AND SPORTS CLUB. An inaugural Meeting for the formation of the above was held in the Male Visiting Room on Wednesday, October 30th, when the Medical Superintendent presided. After outlining the scheme, Dr. McDiarmid suggested that the Chaplain be appointed Hon. Secretary. The Rev. R. B. Seccombe was accordingly elected. The Chairman recommended that the Committee should comprise for the representation of the Male Nursing Staff, either the Head or the Deputy Head Attendant, one Charge or Deputy Charge Attendant, and one Junior Attendant; for the representation of the Female Nursing Staff, either the Matron or the Assistant matron, one Charge or Deputy Charge Nurse, and one Junior Nurse; for the Artisan Staff and the Office and.
