ACORN 21 years old This year ACORN (Arlesey Conservation for Nature) celebrate their 21st birthday. The group have been instrumental in opening-up and maintaining green spaces in and around Arlesey. Working with volunteers they have made huge contribution to the local area with projects including Glebe Meadows, Arlesey Old Moat and last year The Hicca Way. New chairman Saul Ackroyd would like to extend a warm welcome to anybody who would like to join the group. He says “I would like to encourage new (and younger!) membership and have written to all existing members in search of new people to come and volunteer”. Please contact Saul on: 01462 733778 or by email: [email protected] Please note ACORN will be heavily involved in the Community Duck Race. A provisional date of Sunday June 29th has been agreed. Buses Lots of people have commented that the new bus services work well and it has been a boost to transport links. However there seems to be no buses available from the south of the village to the train station and back in the early morning and certain evening times to work around early train times. This has resulted in some people using cars to get to the station where a bus would save on car parking fees, congestion or extra vehicles parking on the roads in the north of the village. One resident has contacted Central Beds Council who say they will be reviewing timetables after feedback from bus users. Although there was very little in the consultation for the masterplan to suggest extra services would be proposed for local bus transport. Do you have concerns or feedback on the bus services please let us know or contact Central Beds Council on: 0300 300 8308 or email: [email protected] to advertise telephone: 01462 834265 or go to the website: www.onthebuttonarlesey.co.uk | April 2014 | 5
