Vivace Choir
V
ivace is a mixed choir which rehearses on Wednesday evenings during
term time at Edgeworth House, 121 High Street, Arlesey. By “mixed”
we mean mixed voices (men and women), mixed ability (members have a
wide range of musical experience) and mixed repertoire. We are essentially
a classical choir but we like to vary our programmes, so alongside the wellknown choral works we sing lesser-known classical repertoire, madrigals,
part songs, opera choruses, songs from the shows, and Gilbert & Sullivan.
Vivace gives three main concerts a year, performing regularly in Arlesey
and as part of the Hitchin Festival, as well as in the surrounding villages. The
choir also receives invitations to sing in fund-raising and community events,
most recently for the Friends of St Mary’s, Stotfold. In May 2012 Vivace
celebrated its 10th anniversary with a very well-received rendition of the
Brahms German Requiem, following up with a sell-out performance of The
Mikado in July. We are now embarking on a varied range of music for the
coming season, so it’s a great time to come along and find out more! There
are no auditions, just a simple voice test and two trial rehearsals.
