Looking at the shift in demographics of candidates, it’s interesting to note an increase over the
years in the proportion of candidates from older age groups (increasing from 27% to 36%).
This suggests that as video interviewing becomes more and more mainstream, it is being used for
more senior roles.
Sonru users are pioneers – early adopters of automated video interviewing technology. In the first
year of our data collection, one quarter (25%) of respondents were aware of automated video
interviews; this proportion is now more than a third. Furthermore, while only 4% of respondents
had completed an automated video interview before their Sonru interview in year one, this figure
has now risen to over 10%.
Video interviewing helps to create a more candidate focused recruitment strategy. Home is the
most popular location for candidates to complete their video interview. Mobile completion is
growing with over one quarter of Sonru candidates (26%) completing their interviews on mobile
device. Almost two thirds (60%) of Sonru interviews are completed outside of business hours with
the majority (51%) interviewing over the weekend. These findings suggest that video interviewing
benefits recruitment by ensuring more flexibility than traditional interview techniques.
83% of respondents recorded a positive candidate experience with a further 12% of respondents
being neither satisfied nor dissatisfied and just 5% dissatisfied. From this research, it has become
clear that companies that take the time to effectively communicate what the video interviewing
element of the recruitment process involves, along with detailed guidelines, provided a more
satisfying experience for all candidates. Every Sonru customer has a dedicated Client Success
