• Should allocated APTs remain the same across level one and two? LEVEL THREE Setting Expectations Students should expect a re-affirmation of the format of sessions for the year. Once again a group session between all tutees with their tutee would be advantageous; in some cases this might be welcoming students back to UWE after placements. There is a debate to be had whether a level 3 APT should also be their tutees dissertation supervisor because students' opinion on this varied. It was felt there should be some common practice for this. Ongoing practice There should be discussion to support tutee's aspirations in degree classification and explain use of the classification calculator to monitor progression. Students should expect discussions about CV development and progress towards UWE Bristol Futures Award. APTs should signpost for support and guidance being given for employability and post-graduate study. Postgraduate students should expect to have access to an Academic Personal Tutor, and signposting for support services relevant to the post-graduate experience. Questions that arise • Should a student's APT also be their dissertation supervisor (or equivalent)? More general questions • How do tutees and tutors build up trust? • Are institutional policies applied consistently through APT? • How do we recognise and reward staff who display good practice? • How do we share good practise of personal tutoring? • How are international students allocated an APT? • How are APTs supporting direct entrants? • How are joint honours students allocated tutors?
