We often speak about the value of collaborative care , and recent events have only strengthened our commitment to enhance the role of chiropractic in team based care settings .
As Canada grapples with an opioid crisis , it ' s important to consider not just prescription guidelines and pill packaging , but how to better manage the pain that is fueling this crisis . Chiropractors are ideally suited to relieving , managing and preventing chronic MSK pain with none of the harms that are seen so often with patients on opioids . We discuss the opioid crisis and how chiropractors can contribute to a sustainable solution in our feature on page 18 , Opioids : Patients Deserve Better . In Ontario , 15 % of physician visits deal with MSK pain . To us , this indicates that the relationship between the physician and the chiropractor should be as strong as the relationship between the physician and the pharmacist .
