Enhancing
the Patient
Experience
Getting Back to Basics
Whether you are just getting started as a
chiropractor or expanding your practice,
creating a positive patient experience
is integral to growing a patient roster.
Dr. Moez Rajwani is an experienced
chiropractor in the Greater Toronto
Area and an expert in the auto
insurance sector.
Dr. Rajwani will be celebrating his
25th anniversary as a chiropractor next
year, a noteworthy career milestone that
signifies his long history as a health care
provider. With a quarter of a century under
his belt, Dr. Rajwani has much wisdom
and experience to share. “It can be hard
when you’re just starting out,” says Dr.
Rajwani. “I understand the pressure young
chiropractors are facing.”
The key to Dr. Rajwani’s longevity
in practice is his unrelenting focus
on patient experience, supported
by years of work to hone his
communication skills. “Slow and steady
is better than rushed,” he says. “Positive
interactions can lead to long-term
practice benefits.” Here are some of Dr.
Rajwani’s top takeaways for creating and
maintaining a positive patient experience.
First Impressions
Everybody knows first impressions count.
That’s why it’s advisable to engage
your interpersonal skills, or soft skills
(e.g., approachability, trustworthiness,
problem solving, communication) in
the initial assessment and diagnosis
– they absolutely help to establish a
connection and level of comfort. Having
good interview skills, with an emphasis
on listening, also makes a good
impression. “Patients are looking for
providers that can explain what’s going
on. That takes time,” says Dr. Rajwani.
Confidence & Competency
“If you present yourself in a confident
and professional manner,” advises
Dr. Rajwani, “then that respect and
relationship with your patient becomes
that much stronger.” Demonstrate to
patients that you hear and understand
their issues; get to the core of what is
bothering them. Do this and you are on
your way to creating a lifelong advocate
for you and our profession.
