Compliance STA N D A RD OF P RACTICE: Acupuncture C hiropractors have been utilizing acupuncture as an adjunctive therapy in their practices for many years. The use of this adjunctive therapy by chiropractors is regulated by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario’s (CCO) Standard of Practice S-017 “Acupuncture”. In 2006 the provincial government passed the Traditional Chinese Medicine Act. Then in 2013, the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO) officially began regulating traditional Chinese medicine practitioners in Ontario. Understandably, these developments have resulted in a lack of clarity about the role acupuncture services can play in a chiropractor’s practice. This reiteration of the CCO’s acupuncture Standard of Practice is designed to provide that clarity. How do these developments impact Chiropractors?
