one church every week soon after people
began to pray. Today, the ECI consists of
more than 3,500 churches, a membership of over 500,000, and a growth rate of
approximately 4½ new churches weekly.
What made the difference? It is firmly believed that it was the breakthrough prayer
effort, along with the deeply embedded
prayer habit sown deep within the ECI
that characterized those foundational
years and continues to manifest itself in
ECI throughout India today.
